BRADFORD MEETS WITH LEADING SCIENTISTS
AT WOODS HOLE OCEANOGRAPHIC INSTITUTE

Through a friend of Bradford Chairman and CEO, John
Howland, Bradford has established a dialogue with the
world-class Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution
(“WHOI” for short).

WHOI is a private, independent organization in Falmouth,
Massachusetts, dedicated to marine research, engineering,
and higher education. Established in 1930, its primary mission is to understand the ocean and its interaction with the earth as a whole, and to communicate a basic understanding of the ocean's role in the changing global environment. There are approximately 1100 scientists, staff, and students at the Institute. WHOI also partners with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to form one of the premier marine science graduate programs in the world.

WHOI indicates that ecosystems can be viewed as dynamic processes---eco-processes that are critically integrated and interdependent. By investigating how the balance and sustainability of specific ecosystems are influenced by climate, the environment, pollution and other ecosystems, WHOI researchers will provide valuable knowledge for developmental researchers to create commercially robust, sustainable products and processes.

By staying in touch with the cutting edge of basic research at WHOI, Bradford is able to see what is “coming down the road” in marine science research.
